Ways to Serve

Usher/ Greeter – A greeter or usher is one of the first friendly faces people see when they arrive at church. Their job is to help everyone feel welcomed, comfortable, and cared for.

Greeters:
– Offer a warm smile and greeting at the door
– Help newcomers find their way around
– Answer questions about the service or church events

Ushers:
– Help people find seats
– Hand out bulletins or programs
– Collect the offering (if part of your service)
– Assist during communion, if needed

Scripture Reader During Worship – At Dido United Methodist Church, our Scripture Readers help lead worship by reading the Bible passages that the sermon is based on each week.

They stand at the front of the sanctuary and share the day’s scripture clearly and thoughtfully, helping the congregation connect with God’s Word and prepare their hearts for the message that follows.

It’s a meaningful part of our service that brings the beauty and power of scripture to life.

Repair & Maintenance – At Dido United Methodist Church, caring for our church buildings and parsonage is an important part of our ministry.

Our repairs and maintenance team helps keep everything in good working order—handling tasks like fixing small repairs, maintaining the grounds, painting, and making sure our spaces stay safe and welcoming for everyone.

Their work ensures our church remains a beautiful and functional place for worship, fellowship, and ministry.

Hospitality & Care – team helps create a warm, welcoming environment at Dido United Methodist Church by taking care of the little things that mean a lot.

This includes preparing coffee and water on Sunday mornings, helping organize church luncheons, assisting with breakfast sign-ups, and delivering cards or letters to those who are sick or homebound.

Whether it’s a kind word, a warm drink, or a shared meal, this ministry reflects the heart of our church—caring for one another in love and service.
